Good tea for acid reflux

Sweet-smelling chamomile is a member of the Asteraceae family. This plant family also includes daisies, sunflowers, and chrysanthemums. Chamomile flowers are used to make teas and extracts.

Chamomile tea is known for reducing anxiety and helping people fall asleep. It’s also used to calm an upset stomach and other digestive issues. Despite chamomile’s reputation for taming tummy troubles, there’s no scientific evidence to prove that it helps acid reflux.

What are the benefits of chamomile tea?

I asked this question when I was about 9 years old, that’s when I found out about this tea. Here’s what I found out.

  1. Drinking a cup of chamomile tea can offer the same benefits as taking an aspirin or ibuprofen.
  2. Chamomile can ease symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  3. Chamomile has anti-cancer properties.

How is this tea good for acid reflux?

Chamomile has long been recognized as an anti-inflammatory. Drinking a cup of chamomile tea may offer the same benefits as taking an over-the-counter NSAID, such as aspirin.

The herb may also relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression. a study found that people who took daily doses of chamomile extract experienced up to a 50 percent reduction in symptoms of anxiety. a study found that a daily chamomile supplement relieved symptoms of depression.

Chamomile can also help treat digestive issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and colic.

Chamomile also has anti-cancer properties. Apigenin is one of the herb’s primary active components. It has been found to inhibit cancer cell growth and reduce the blood supply to cancerous tumors.

Chamomile and acid reflux

If you have acid reflux, a hot cup of chamomile tea may be a great choice to drink as it helps to reduce the amount of acid present in your stomach, thus settling down your roiling stomach muscles. Chamomile will stop your stomach from sending the acid back up your throat and will help to keep your food moving along your digestive system without causing upset. Chamomile tea also helps reduce stress and can prevent stress-related acid reflux episodes.

The bioflavonoids or phytonutrients present in the chamomile herb provide potent anti-oxidants to the tea which helps reverse the stress produced in the body thus preventing stress-induced acid reflux.

The tea also treats digestive issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and colic.

According to studies, the preparation of chamomile tea is more effective than antacids at preventing secondary hyperacidity.

Eliminating the discomfort of acid reflux can be done without expensive over-the-counter medications. There are many natural remedies readily available. Feel better naturally; your body will thank you!
